There is plenty of information on the internet addressing how to protect yourself from negative energy. All you have to do is a quick ‘Google search.’ However, have you considered what YOU may be doing to cause negative, lower vibrations in your world?
Becoming aware of how you interact within your environment and making some changes can significantly change the vibration of your daily life. Possibly observe your everyday life and consider some of the following and how your self may impact your life (that’s right – it’s not everyone else’s fault you feel this way!).
As we head into the social season, painful enough as an empath, here are some things to consider before you are sucked dry and exhausted.
Take ownership
“When you think everything is someone else’s fault, you will suffer greatly. When you realize that everything springs only from yourself, you will learn peace and joy.”
– His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama (I can’t add to that)
Challenge negative thoughts
This one takes practice, dedication, and a conscious effort. A great majority of your negative thoughts directed at yourself are not valid. You’ll have to catch yourself whenever you’re acting or speaking out negatively and immediately challenge the validity of these thoughts.
Once again, NO is a complete sentence
When you say ‘yes’ to doing things when you don’t want to do, your energy drops to a lower vibration. So, for the next family gathering, please only agree to bake those desserts if you want to (or stop at a bakery like me). You are leaking energy when you decide to do something you don’t want to do or participate in.
You have control over your situation
The only entity you have complete control over is yourself. Accept this and realize the future is not cast in stone nor predictable beyond anything other than an educated guess. Once you live that belief, you have more control over your conditions.
Be Realistic
We all feel negative sometimes. Yet, the key to raising your vibration is not accepting this as a ‘truth’ of your reality. Often we know that at some level, we need space, or maybe something isn’t quite right, causing us a down day or two. Ride the wave. Soon enough, it will pass my empathic friend.
Energy suckers, energy vampires, etc., are the go-to for blaming how we feel. Ultimately they can’t suck your energy if you don’t let them. You are the only one with control and responsibility for your energy and self-care.
