I work directly with many exhausted, emotional and overwhelmed people pleasers, also known as sensitive souls and empaths.
I know what it feels like to carry the world’s weight on our shoulders and constantly try to bring more peace and fix the lives of the people around us. I have lost hours of sleep and wasted days full of anxiety because someone is going through some shit.
As an empath, your gift is your compassion.
One of the most important realizations I’ve had, which was a life changer for me, is understanding the difference between my emotions and the emotions of other people. These emotions would leave me feeling exhausted and confused. Once I began asking myself,
“Is there a reason why I feel sad?”
To experience peace, calm and fulfillment, we must keep these two facts in mind and make them part of our lifestyle.
Observe Don’t Absorb
Do you find yourself in a situation where the energy and emotions surrounding you are low? Whether it be anger, frustration, stress, anxiety, sadness, worry, fear, judgment, gossip, or resentment. As an empath, you need to learn to observe your surroundings and the experience other people are having. You can still offer compassion and support where necessary, but there is no need to own another energy and emotions. Just observe the situation and stay in a high vibrational state rather than leave feeling completely drained and exhausted.
The more you understand your emotions, what or who might trigger you to feel a certain way, the easier it becomes to know when you’ve taken on someone else’s emotions.
Protecting Your Energy
Sometimes you still need to spend time around people with low vibrational energy and learn how to protect and shield your energy. Protecting your energy as an empath can be a practice you do at the moment when you become aware of someone else’s low vibrational energy & emotions or every morning before you leave your house. Set boundaries, be mindful of your feelings, watch for triggers, trust your gut, carry crystals or imagine a white light of protection surrounding you. Most importantly, stop giving away and leaking YOUR energy.
I hope this awareness is helpful in your mastering your empathic abilities so you can thrive in life rather than survive each day. Being an empath is a divine gift you carry; own it; don’t try to avoid it. (Because you can’t.)
