Listening to Your Intuition

As much as we are told to ‘follow our passion’ and ‘listen to our heart’ by those around us, we also live in a world that values rational thinking over emotional and intuitive responses (although I like to think that this is slowly changing).  However, when deciding if you should quit your job or stick it out, or if you should move houses or even end a relationship, your intuition can help you in ways that you may not expect.  Indeed, your intuition can be a powerful tool for personal decision-making, so long as you know how to listen to it.

If asked to point to the origin of your intuition, where would you point? Most people point to their bellies or hearts – ‘trust your gut,’ ‘follow your heart.’  These responses stem from the fact that intuition makes itself known to people as an indiscernible feeling.  This is what makes it hard to comprehend the concept of intuition, let alone what it may be trying to tell you.

Yet, you can benefit from your intuition by learning to listen to it. This is not an easy process; it will take trial and error.  But if you’re open practicing and listening, just like when one learns another language, you will come to understand it.  So, next time you’re in a situation and you get a feeling that you just can’t shake, don’t try to get rid of it.  Acknowledge it.  Listen to it.  And learn from it.

Admittedly, this description is vague, but that is because everyone’s intuition is different.  It manifests as a feeling, but it may also work its way into dreams, or perhaps visions or pictures you repeatedly see.  Since intuition is not an exact science, there is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ method to grasp it.  The best thing you can do is have patience, open-mindedness, and perhaps most importantly, trust.

The alternative, that is to ignore it, disconnects us from our souls, our hearts, and ultimately, our purpose in this world. You need to explain this point a little more

Your intuition is speaking. Are you listening?

The 4 ‘Clairs’ Of Intuition

People often question how I gather the information I give to clients during readings. For me, it’s a process of using a combination of the “four clairs”: clairaudience (hearing), clairvoyance (seeing), clairsentience (feelings), and claircognizance (knowing).

Each of us is naturally stronger in one of the four clairs. Read below to discover which clair your intuition prefers.

Clairaudience

Clairaudient messages sound like someone talking to you in your mind. This ‘voice’ of intuition will usually be straightforward. It says things like ‘not now’ or ‘yes, this is the right way’. Importantly, clairaudience comes across in short messages which are sometimes even one word.

Clairvoyance

The term “clairvoyant” is often interchanged with the word psychic. Clairvoyant messages arrive as an image or scene in your mind. When this happens to me, sometimes I will see something I can describe to a client, but other times it can be more metaphoric. When I see a cake, for instance, I know Spirit is acknowledging a birthday.

Clairsentience

Clairsentient messages are the most common of the four clairs and come as a feeling. This is why so many people identify with being empathic. Gut feelings, being able to experience others’ emotions, or sensing the collective energy of a room all fall under this umbrella.

Claircognizance

This is the ability to ‘just know’ without understanding how or why we know. I describe this as our brains receiving an immediate download from our higher self or Spirit Team. We receive information much like computer downloads, only much faster!

Your intuition is always available and can have some amazing answers for you once you begin to understand it. Intuition is an ability you are born with. Don’t be intimidated by getting more in touch with yours.

Be well,

Dreaming of Your Loved Ones?

Characteristics of Visitation Dreams

I am often asked about dreaming of our departed loved ones, angels, and guides. People share their story and then I’m asked ‘What do you think? Was it them?

I do not doubt for a moment that the other side communicates with us on a daily and or a nightly basis. Dreaming is quiet common as it is actually easier for Spirits to communicate with us while we are sleeping. When sleeping, we are in the in the between place of our earth and the spiritual world. It is a time we have no humanly thoughts, our rational mind, to get in the way. We are more open if you will. We are more able to accept whereas during our wake state we would discount, rational and inmost case disregard. I would love to say that each time we dream of our loved one is a visitation, however this is not the case.

To help you determine if your dream was a visitation I have listed some of the most common characteristic of visitation dreams. Before reading on, please know that you are the only one who knows for sure. You must believe and trust your intuition. Although these are commonalities, visitation dreams are not limited to these points.

Possibly the most important of all the characteristics; it feels ‘real and is very vivid.

Because the dream was so real and so vivid, you will remember visitation dreams very clearly for days, months, years and maybe your lifetime. You can recount even the smallest details years later!

If your dream has more than one spirit they are all passed. Your dream will not consist of your deceased mother along with your living siblings.

The person will almost always appear in the dream to be healthy and loving. They come from a place of purity, where we all came from, and will seldom appear sick or injured. Never will they be negative in any way such as disappointed, depressed or angry as examples.
Communication can be verbally or telepathically. Either way the message will be clear. You will just know.

Most often the messages come as way to reassure or comfort you. They come to let you know all is well and bring their love. They truly want your happiness regardless of the earth bound relationship you may or may not had.

Upon waking, although you may feel a little perplexed, there is an undeniable sense of peace and love.

One of the best ways to connect with your deceased loved ones is through meditation. Likewise, know they are always with you. If there is one thing I could convince the world this would be it. Talk often to those who have passed they are listening, I promise.

Be well.

DIY: Tree Hugging and Other Summer Activities

Level of Difficulty: Easy

Time Required:  10 “ 30 minutes

Now that the beautiful weather is finally upon us, let’s spend some time outdoors for ourselves. I know you have all heard the hug a tree expression but when was the last time you did it?  For some it may have been recent, others not since being a child. Well in the interest of keeping it short and simple, nature vibrates at the same rate as love and gratitude. So when we spend time in and with nature we sync or vibration with love and gratitude. How can that be wrong!

Ever notice how a child drops and rolls on the grass or your dog. Once again they both know better than most adults.

Here’s how to make to most of your summer vibes:

  1. Brown-bag lunch at a park or sit on a rock or fallen tree in a forest.
  2. Take a detour on the way home, spot a park and run to the swings. Swing as high as you can without creating nausea.
  3. Take some seeds, grapes and feed the ducks (bread’s not good for them).
  4. Go skinny dipping in a lake. (Ask first if it’s in the neighbour’s pool).
  5. Walk barefoot in the mud and don’t forget to squish your toes.
  6. Lay in the grass and look for shapes in the clouds.
  7. Walk in the rain without an umbrella.
  8. Bird or insect watch.
  9. Close your eyes and just listen
  10. Hug a tree. Feel free to hug more than one tree; others do get green with envy!

Tips:

  1. Take a child along with you next time and watch closely (Make sure to have permission if they are not your own).
  2. Plan a date with a friend or spouse to work through the list together.

Namaste,

Karen

Do you need to Change Your Wisdom?

The difference between knowledge and wisdom is practicing the application of that knowledge. You are constantly learning and when you are able to apply that knowledge to your life it now becomes skill and wisdom. Over your life time your subconscious has gathered and recorded all that you have been exposed too with all your senses. Your daily decisions and automatic actions are based on the gathered information.  To live a life of wisdom you must be willing to evaluate the effectiveness of that knowledge.  You only do what you know and this may not be the most effective or joyful life you can lead. What have you learned that has created the world you are currently living?

To make the changes you must be prepared to transform what you think is the truth. It requires you to accept the new knowledge, trust it, practice it and keep your fabrications of the past in check. You are subconsciously matching patterns from the past with the present. For example: You learned from your mother that to be perfect wife and mother we must keep a perfect house. If you haven’t already figured this one out it’s not true. So why do we stay in the pattern?

Reason one, you blame others. You have become a reflection of your world. You tell ourselves that it’s the world ‘out there that creates your difficulties and unhappiness.  Simple but true. Look closely and you will soon see that it is always someone or something, most often from your past as to why you are unhappy or repeating the same self-inflicted cycle. A relationship ends and you blame. ‘I should have known better you are blaming yourself for not thinking or you blame the other person, he did – she did, you are now the victim. Your parents never handled money well and you therefore never learned how to budget, that’s why you’re always broke. Your partner ends the relationship with no warning, no real reason, according to your perception, you have now become the victim.

Here’s part two. Underneath the blame, the obvious beliefs, your moral values there is an underlying belief that you have about yourself which is a direct result of what you learned, your program, and it is a lie. The lies you learned are deeply embedded in your experiences as a child. You may not even remember those experiences, even though they continue to impact your relationships not only with other but yourself. These experiences create a set of beliefs, attitudes, and values that influence our thoughts and actions as adults. You learned that your value is external, not internal. You became externally motivated and you look to others to determine your worth. You wanted and needed to belong and feel unconditionally loved and this was in direct conflict with what was expected. When you experience conflict and discomfort in your life’s are often mirroring back to you the lies you are deep within.

Knowing yourself and understanding why you have the beliefs that you do is the first step to living wisely and thus living your truth. When you live your truth you can live your purpose.

Be well,
Karen

3 Steps To Connect with Your Soul Mate and Soul Family

Given that we are all connected at some level, it’s only logical that we’d have a ‘group of other souls we travel with, this being the only time can you can pick your family. So if you are ever concerned with death separating you from a loved one, you can quickly put this concern to rest. You will be reunited without doubt on the other side. You will only be separated for a period of time while you continue to remain on the earth plain.

To connect with Your Soul Family;

  • Notice the people who light you up
  • Do not discount a relationship as not a soul connection because it is difficult. Some soul family members are there to help you become more authentic and your ego will resist.
  • Be authentic with all people. You will discover everyone has the potential to be a soul family member when you do.

Soul families work to help our personal transformation and at the same time, they quicken our experience. Sometimes they come into our lives as a facilitator to lead us in the right direction. It may not always be the easiest of paths but certainly a necessary one.

The most intense soul relationships, especially those we call our soul brother or sister, or especially our soul mate, call upon us to face our deepest fears, release our deepest wounds, and take an awesome leap of faith and courage into the unknown by trusting that everything is exactly the way it should be in our life.

Understanding the dynamics of our soul family and soul experience is one of the first steps in understanding why we are here and getting to our spiritual work.

Be well,

Karen

The 3 Practices Of Spiritual People

Ever notice that spiritual and spirituality have become some often used words. I’m not even sure when this happened. I just know that I hear them constantly. So I began to wonder what it means to be spiritual.  Does it mean we go to church every week or practice yoga or meditation every day or perhaps you follow the teachings of someone or a group, nope that doesn’t make you a spiritual person.  So what does it mean?

Being a spiritual is one and the same with being a person whose main priority is to be loving to oneself and others. People, animals, and the planet all make the list of importance to a spiritualist as they believe we are all one. A spiritual person is a kind person. A spiritual person is a person who is always aware of the space inside and outside of themselves.

The 3 Ways of spiritual people

  1. They Worship where and when it’s right

They don’t need a temple or church to practice their spirituality. Their spiritual ‘house is their body. That’s not to say they do not attend a house of worship but they don’t need one. Their devotion can take place at anytime and anyplace, a forest, a sacred space in their home, a hospital bed, I would suggest it can be anywhere, which in its self is a beautiful thing.

  1.  They See Potential, Not Difficulties.

Spiritual people are the masters on the glass half full, lemons to lemon aid, you get the picture. While others struggle to not sweat the small stuff, spiritual people live for the small stuff.  If there is anyone in the world who will walk in your shoes it’s a spiritualist.  They understand that empathy means feeling another’s pain but not so much that they take on others’ pain. They know you have a story with a happy ending.

  1. They trust.

Imagine knowing you are on the right path and evolving exactly the way you should. When we trust both our intuition and the world around us, we begin to understand that everything is exactly the way it supposed to be. The decision to follow your intuition may be a scary one, but believe me, it knows what your life’s path is about much better than you.

The list could go on without question as spirituality is a very personal thing, especially as I think of some of the Masters of spirituality that I have come to know and learn from. As I think of them all these three traits are common in all but the list could go on. And interesting enough when I think of my own mentors the other thing they all have in common is an element of humbleness. They see the truth in themselves and look to find peace within themselves first. Spirituality is a belief system and a lifestyle in one’s self.

4 Thoughts to Change Your Life

It is up to you to take complete responsibility for yourself, your choices and your life. The moment you stop making excuses and blaming is the moment in which you will start moving towards the success you desire. No one else can do it for you and only you can make it happen. You are the life you’ve been looking for.
You’re the only one that has to experience your life. All success requires, is for you to accept the responsibility for where you find yourself at any given time. Only you have the power to choose the thoughts and actions needed to lead you to success.
Life can be everything you make of it. However, nothing will happen without your courage, determination, and effort to just move a little out of your box. No need to jump out, just a toe to start. With each change we choose to make and practice daily soon it becomes a part of our life.

  1. Have a clear choice in your mind, be committed to it and work it daily with discipline. Without discipline, your success is compromised. You must bring your vision into the present moment to bring it alive and part of your very being.
  2. Yesterday has passed and cannot be changed regardless of how often we replay it over and over in our minds. Spend your time instead imaging tomorrow as the life you want.
  3. Tomorrow is what you are creating today and believe it or not it is beyond your control. The only thing you have control over is yourself. The path to tomorrow is made today and there is nothing on that path that you can’t handle. You’ve already proved that in the past.
  4. Today, now, is the only real moment you have control over, so use each moment to create the direction you want to go, the changes you want to make.

You are the life you dream of.

The Voice Of The Ego

To live by your Soul means to listen to your Intuition. Your intuition is the voice of your own inner Teacher that guides you from darkness (unconsciousness) into Light (expanded consciousness).

  1. Ego is Logical “ Intuition is Creative

Often the ego’s voice will sound logical and rational. The advice is based on a past that no longer exists.
It may sound like, ‘Of course, do this because it worked for you in the past or this method worked for other people. Intuition rarely sounds logical or rational “ it is the creative voice “ the solution that seems to come out of left field.

  2. Ego is Fear Based “ Intuition is based on Love

Messages from the ego will often be cloaked in fear.
‘You need to take that boring evening class to keep your competitive edge “ other people will pass you by. ‘Keep that job that exhausts you “ it gives you a regular paycheck, otherwise, you will have no home “ how will you survive? The intuitive voice is rooted in love “ and reminds you that you have the support of the universe every step of the way. Often with intuition, you do not receive the whole picture all at once “ it is one step at a time.

  3. Ego Sounds Harsh “ Intuition is Neutral

The ego’s voice is judgmental to the point of being abusive “ telling you things about yourself to make you believe that you are a bad person and not to be trusted. This will make you treat yourself in disrespectful and unloving ways. Intuition is neutral in energy and these messages make you treat yourself in loving and respectful ways.

  4. Ego Protects a Mental Image “ Intuition Protects your Soul’s Journey

The ego is invested in maintaining a mental image you have of yourself. For instance, you may be a supervisor of people in the workplace. The supervisor is the mental image (ego identification) and with this comes a lot of baggage including all the ways the ego thinks you should be treated by others. If someone doesn’t play the game and surrender their ego to your ego perhaps by speaking the Truth “ ego will feel threatened and lash out. Ego messages will include, ‘I need to put that person back in line “ they need to pay for disrespecting me “ all in an effort to protect a mental image which is untrue. Intuition sees the truth that we are all spiritual beings having human experiences. We are all equal and hierarchies are created by the ego to keep us separate and unconscious to the Truth. There is nothing to protect “ our true identity can neither be harmed nor injured.

  5. Ego Jumps Around “ Intuition is Consistent

Often the ego’s advice will jump around from one message to the next “ sometimes contradicting itself. It is like a thief that tries every way possible to get into your house. The messages you receive from your intuition are steady and consistent “ you will often hear the same words or phrases over and over again.

Take care and listen to your Intuition more

Working With Your Spirit Guides

Whether they are your Angels, Spirit Guides, Creator, Spirit, Source, or The Universe, these divine messengers are our spiritual “life coaches” and are always working on a subtle level to guide you along this life. They will also provide guidance and wisdom to you when you need it most. These entities can be encouraged, through communication, to work with you on a personal level. All you need to do is be aware.

Say a Prayer

When you are trying to contact or connect with your Spirit Guide, say a prayer. Ask for only the highest vibration and greater good. Stated clearly what you need, not what you don’t want.

Spirits Are Attracted To Us, Think Of Them Often

When we invite them into our daily lives they tend to come. Know without a doubt they are there to help guide and protect us. They hear your call and they will come to you. In fact, that’s their Soul purpose! Be sure to thank them often as you would anyone.

Meditation

This is when you get your answers. Meditation is a practice of sitting quietly while regulating your breathing, It doesn’t  have to be a big production! The goal of meditation is to quiet the mind. If walking in nature is your thing, or quietly listening to music go ahead, whatever works for you. Be sure you are not distracted by taking the dog or heavy metal!

Be Patient

Communicating takes practice much like learning to walk but you did it! Practice often, daily if you can. Being consistent with when and where help our guides too. It’s like booking an appointment with them.

Trust

Do not let your ego get in the way! Trust what you receive; messages from your guides are always loving, positive and your highest interest.

5 Practices to Stop the Fear

Even the most courageous people have fears. Maybe your fear is something tangible or maybe a fear of failure or change. No matter what it is that scares you, learn how to acknowledge, confront and take ownership of your fear. This is the way to free yourself from the grips of fear.

  1. Breathe, breathe and breathe

When we breathe deeply into our bellies two things happen. One, your energy that is being used by our Monkey Mind relaxes throughout your body. Two, breathing tells your fight or flight part of the brain that everything is safe. Instant relaxation and letting go of the fear. Trust me this works well to get us to a place where we can think clearly.

  2. Cancel – Cancel

Our thoughts are automatic based on previous leanings. Most of which are not true. When your mind goes into the cesspool of fear, stop and say cancel – cancel and replace that untruth with the truth, I can handle this, I don’t have all the information, These thoughts are not valid. This, I find remarkably easy. The more you practice the easier it gets and eventually, the fear will slow down if not altogether disappear.

  3. You Are Not A Future Teller or Mind Reader

How often has fear overtaken your life because of something that hasn’t even happened yet? As humans our need to know the future can be paralyzing. How often have you spent hours, days or even weeks trying to guess the outcome or make an important decision without all the information? Your imagination is a tool and we tend to misuse it. Our imagination and emotions are closely linked and what we imagine can feel very real to us (even when it isn’t at all). There’s no guarantees. You never know how any situation is going to unfold exactly so stop playing it over and over in your mind.

  1. What’s the worst that could happen?

Most of your fears are created in your own head. Have you even sat down to actually consider the worst case scenario? Is it practical or even possible? There are very few if any future events that you will not be able to handle. Look at your past.

  1. You need to have enough courage to trust yourself

You’ve dealt with unexpected and future events before right? In the end, you were fine. Give yourself more credit and learn to trust you’ve handled the future before you will do it again. Regardless of what happens, you’ll make it work.

We like and feel comfortable in our little life boxes’ that we live in. Take the chance and start small, just a toe outside of the lines is living Life Without Resistance.

5 Ways To Stay Spiritually Connected

What does it mean to be spiritually connected?

Life is an experience. As human beings, we question life, look for knowledge, work on self-improvement and search for the peace and divine. We tend to search outside of ourselves. Yet we already have all the knowledge we need. We’re were born with it however by the time we become adults we can’t seem to find our higher self.
Being connected means being aware of our oneness and staying aligned with our higher self. Not always easy during rush hour or dealing with someone or something we don’t enjoy. When we are connected we are more trusting, less afraid, and we expand our perception. Staying connected is about the good, real and continuous use of your power of intention.

1.Recognize YOUR Creator. You are a part of a whole.
2.Be grateful for all that you have, the good and the not so good.
3.Look for the opportunities to share more love in your world.
4.Become more accepting. With every interaction do not judge.
5.Trust and let go of the fear.

Developing a spiritual practice is a very personal experience. There is no one way or right way and it is a life-long process. Spring is finally upon us and as the earth renews look to renew your spiritual connection.

This is Living Without Resistance.

My GPS: A Love/Hate Relationship

I bought my husband a GPS last year for Christmas. It was one of those gifts I really wanted because let’s face it, men don’t need one: they always know where they are.

Personally, I have really never been directionally challenged. I can read a map, Google directions and, if I watch the sun long enough, I can figure out which way north is. But I must say having Justine (that’s what we call the GPS) tell me how long it’s going to take and when to turn and when I’ve arrived is great, makes for a relaxing drive. Should I ever forget where I live she can tell me that too. For all these reasons I love my GPS.

Why could I possibly hate it you wonder? Not only does it tell me I’m going to be late, it has the nerve of being specific! Two minutes, ten minutes… there goes the calm and relaxing drive out the car window! And may the force be with me if I hit a red light or two lanes merged into one! I begin to break the speed limit more than normal, and change lanes whenever I get the chance all in an effort to change time. I watch the arrival time constantly to see if I’ve saved a minute or two, only to lose them with the next red light. There goes stopping for a chai latte.

So what have I learned over these last few months? Doesn’t matter how fast we go, because we can’t change time. We get there when we get there. If I’m going to be late, I’m going to be late so I might as well enjoy the ride. Much like life, don’t you think? We plan to be at a certain point by a certain time in our lives. Our career, our family, our health or maybe our spiritual path. But one thing for sure is we get there when we get there and we can only enjoy the ride.

This is Living Without Resistance.

No Wrong Answers Here

This year has been very interesting. I had no idea when I put “2013 Please Be Good To Me” as my Facebook banner what I was asking for. It’s been a bit since I sat down to write, not because I have nothing to share but rather what do I share? l couldn’t decide there is so much. This year has seen some mighty big changes for me. Things I would never had thought about 6 months ago. Some good and some great. Bet you expected to read some not so good.

There are no wrong decisions.

Ponder that for a moment and then continue reading.

Every time you stop and think what should I do? You really are asking which direction should I take? With each choice we make it moves our life experience forward, it may not always end up being the easiest or the most pleasant shall we say, but a necessary one. How many times did you say I knew better but you did it anyways? Exactly my point! You did it because you had too, it was all part of your experience, moving forward not only your life path but your life experience. Life has an interesting way of setting us up with the same challenges over and over. They may not all look the same but I promise they are. Know that each choice was intentional at some level because this is where our free will comes in.

Recognize, accept and understand this and you will Live Life With The Least Resistance.

“Tis the Season of Receiving”

I don’t mean gifts, although those that know me are aware that I do really enjoy gift receiving.

What I refer to is Receiving is a gift. Let this season be a time for you to give and receive.

How much time do we spend each day focused on others? Why do we think of giving and receiving as such a tangible thing during this time of year?

My gift for you: some resolutions for the New Year that you can begin to practice over this coming Christmas Season.

Each day wake with the intention that you are open, willing and worthy of receiving all that is good in the universe

(Try doing this one for the rest of your life).

Look around at the family and friends that will surround you over the next few weeks. Selfishly receive all the love and blessing they have to offer you.

Only smile and say thank you when someone offers kind words or kind gestures to you. Know that you deserve to receive them and not just give them.

Embrace and receive what life has to offer as this is the only way to live
Life with the Least Resistance.

Do let me know how you manage with receiving and not just giving.
